Poseidon:
3D Printed Exoskeleton
Poseidon is a 3D printed exoskeleton inspired by biomimicry and emerging 3D printing technology. Modeled after shark scales called “denticles”, and 3D printed in one single piece, the print consists of over 800 individual movable and interconnected pieces. In 2014 Poseidon was the first design of its kind to utilize tessellations consisting of a mesh skin base layer with a hinge system supporting the varying sizes of scales.
The award winning design has been featured at Dutch Design Week, Eyebeam gallery during NYFW, and heralded by many publications for its unique contribution to advancements in 3D printed textiles inspired by biomimicry.
